Toddler Boy Closet

Let’s dive into this one!

This little boy has a closet most adults would dream of! All of the child’s clothes are housed in this space. In his room is all toys and books, so working within this space, we knew it would be strictly dedicated to all clothing items. The goal for this project was to organize the shoes, find a space for him to easily access his play clothes, and storage for winter items.

Here is the before:

Here is the after:

Some key takeaways:

  • We moved all of the shoes off of the floor. Getting items off of the floor, is one of the easiest ways to not only free up space, but reduce the look of clutter as well.
  • We used the two main rods to hang tops specifically categorized: separating the tops between short sleeve and long sleeve. The seasonally appropriate tops are on the bottom, where the child can access them. These are my favorite child hangers!
  • Coats and jackets remain above the dresser, and are sorted by type (zip-up, hoodie, etc.)
  • One of the goals was to have the play clothes out of the bins on the floor. I found these great peel-and-stick hooks from Amazon (here), where we were able to hang his favorite dress-up items.
  • We repurposed the bins that were originally used for his dress-up items, and we placed oversized winter gear within them. Snow bibs and snow boots. These bins were placed on the highest shelf in the closet, and they are only accessed a few times within the winter season.
  • Not pictured, but within the dresser is undergarments, pants, shorts, and pajamas. Pajamas are in the bottom most drawer, as the child loves to pick out their pajamas each night.

We were able to work within the needs of the mom, as well as providing some independence to the young child in regards to accessing their daily clothes. This space is now easy to maintain, keeping the clothes accessible to the child, as well as neatly sorted giving the mom peace of mind.
